Great wines are an examination of variety, terroir and technique. The variety predetermines the basic values of the wine: color, aromatics, texture. The terroir accentuates different facets of the variety and adds its own unique flavor twist: spice, fruit, earth, structure. Winemaker technique shapes the style and quality of the wine: bouquet, balance, complexity. The Bench offers our guests a chance to taste a selection of cool-climate varieties, grown on one great stretch of terroir (Santa Maria Bench), vinified by some of California's finest artisan winemakers.
